What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected.

Some wildlife spotted on our canoe trip. I love that they both smiled for the camera.

Dock shots
Being at the cottage means being at the dock. When my grandparents built the cottage, one of the best things they did was build a big dock - the kind where you can have 6 muskoka chairs, a snack table, kids on towels and still have enough room for the dog to run off the end after a tennis ball. So many of my cottage pictures are dock shots - sunsets, wet toes, paddles left beside the canoe, snacks and books - dock shots.

The Raft
If I had a raft, I would have a good time.
~ Michael Palmer
Take one homemade raft, the lake and the sun.
Add:
~ a long pole
~ an anchor
~ friends of course, the more the merrier
~ waves if available
~ the occasional adult willing to try and sink the corner
Result:
More fun and adventure than you could imagine.

Making our way back

The future will be what you contribute to and create.
~ Greg, Camp Counselor
While in the city today we took the kids to see this exhibit which is a collaborative art protest project with schools and local artists. These fish will be sponsored and released back into the community to other schools, while the money goes towards lake restoration projects.
Only when the last tree has died
and the last river been poisoned
and the last fish been caught
will we realise we cannot eat money.
